Dangers of the Acid Trip

Reporting to you live from the trip.

We've been bombarded with conflicting reports on what it feels like to experience an acid trip. From oceanic bliss to hellish demons - how can we be sure that this is something we'd like to try for ourselves?
The "War on Drugs" aka "War on Freedom" has put great effort into broadcasting "dangers" of acid and criminalising anyone who tries to explore it for themselves.
Yet, studies show the most dangerous drugs of all are the ones which can be purchased in most grocery stores, bars & restaurants or prescribed by your GP.

Psychedelics, such as LSD and mushrooms are rated as the least dangerous - both to the individual and to others.
The UK's Misuse of Drugs Act, under which the possession, production and supply of cannabis and psychedelics are classified and prohibited, has never been subject to formal government evaluation of review since passing in 1971. The only changes applied have been the strengthening of policing powers and tightening control.
Although the Irish government has showed more openness to allowing legislative reform to be debated, the country's Misuse of Drugs Act 1977/81 remains largely unchanged and Gardaí (Irish policing service) continue to toe hard-line on drugs.
How is such conflicting and outdated legislation acceptable in 2025?
We decided to conduct our own research and record the findings. Open, honest and free from censorship.
Context
It's the 20th of April, 2024. TGRM founders have gathered for their annual 4/20 celebration.
Set and Setting
(Set = Mindset; Setting = Environment)
To ensure safe and effective use, we prepared a high vibrational set and setting for the experiment. Sun was shining and we were in a beautiful spring-budding park. We were both off work the next two days and had made no other plans except to celebrate the 4/20 festival.
We checked in with ourselves: how we were feeling? What happened in the last week? Identified anything that could potentially cause tension for us or low vibrations.
Sarah had flown in on an early flight after saying goodbye to her sister (and best mucker) who was moving to Australia. Jade was up late the night before, enjoying the juice. Although both felt a positive charge (as we always are in each other's presence) - we listened to our bodies.
As responsible researchers and consumers, we agreed to rest our system and conduct the trip experiment the following day.
Of course, we respected the traditions of 4/20 and fed our endocannabinoid system.
Trip Prep
[04/21/25] Well rested, we cooked up a high vibrational breakfast with whole foods like fruit, veggies and light carbohydrates. You may have heard it is best to trip on an empty stomach - but when our gut plays a vital role in how we feel, the energy consumed through food and drink helps drives our experience. So why not fuel up on the good stuff? Caffeine was kept to a minimum and we stretched while we smudged.
Jade carried arts and craft supplies along with the magic box. Sarah stuffed snacks, a funky-coloured blanket and most importantly - the music speaker. We made our way to the near by park, and sussed the feng-shui, before setting up camp beside a pair of friendly looking trees.
Sound Sensations
The role of trip-DJ is an important one. While it's great to tap into the sounds of our environment - music can be a great grounder during the trip. It helps elevate our vibration and can act as a sail to ride the wave.
Every year, our 4/20 celebrations have been anchored by a particular song - or songs. Champions are those which inspire untameable dancing, tracks we have to play again, as well as melodies which cast a spell or those which turn us into liquid.
Since the trip is so dynamic, we moved through a rather eclectic mix.
See our Trippy Melts playlist - inspired by the songs which have helped us float through oceanic bliss over the years.
Live Reporting
Writing during the trip can produce some of the most fascinating and bizarre results. It's as if we're handing the pen over to a new part of our psyche which takes the opportunity to grant us deeper insight.
So what "dangers of acid" came to our attention?
Note: We started writing this about an hour into the dose and continued to fill it out over next few hours...

Side Notes:
"Attracting animals" - dogs, birds & squirrels couldn't get enough of us this day
"Listening to Whistle Stop on loop" - this song was played at least a dozen times in a row and 30 in total through the day. "This is our anchor!" we kept saying and it then became a defining song of the entire year. Needles to say, our house mates who were not on this trip said the song replay was driving them insane lol (Sorry ladies xx)
Enjoying your own company -this was written when Jade had to venture back to the house while I looked after the park base. We had slight apprehensions on how we would get on solo; but both agreed upon her return that we found it a delightful experience. Saying that, we were happy to be reunited 15 mins later.
"Peace" & "Overwhelming peace" - interesting that peace was listed twice.
The Results
When commencing the experiment, we hadn't intended on compiling this list. Sarah found herself drawing the squiggled lines and then inspiration to note our experienced dropped by. The result? We laughed, created, melted into music and revelled in our ecstatic dance. Our peak was lying on the floor with our heads beside the speaker, watching the sun set on a day we now cherish as one of our favourites.
A key component to our successful set and setting was sharing the journey with a trusted mucker (friend). The foundation of safety, non-judgement and craic results in a high-vibrational trip. Cannabis acts as a complimentary tool which helps center us as we expand through the trip.
This isn't to say we don't face those challenging moments. Tears and bizarre thoughts can rise to the surface. But knowing we can express these to each other without fear of judgement or embarrass, is what elevates us through.
*DISCLAIMER*
Psychedelics are powerful tools and should be used safely and effectively.
Even if someone is a close and trusted mucker/friend, this does not guarantee they will be a high vibrational trip partner.
At the time of this report, TGRM founders were experienced explorers and therefore, had built the foundation to help navigate their journey. Using psychedelics to move into higher realms creates an experience like no other and can be overwhelming- start low and go slow.
The Grassroots Movement (TGRM) is a community for non-censored exploration of cannabis, psychedelics and the pursuit of high vibrations. Read our mission here.
